1. My name is Jared Pape and I am from Longwood, Florida and I currently go to the University of Florida. I think my best skills are my critical thinking and my ability to socialize and get along well with others. I see this business playing a role in my life mainly as a financial instrument to make money and provide for myself and my family. This business isn't something that I would want to completely take over my life, but at the same time I understand I would have to devote a lot of time and effort. I am working as an intern right now at an accounting firm, and my coworkers and supervisors have said I've worked very well with everybody and done a great job.
2. My product is going to be an app that people can download to organize and meet up with other people in the area to play sports. People could go on the app and see if there were other people nearby that were interested in getting together for a game of pick up basketball or soccer at a certain time. This would fit customers' need to get out and exercise while at the same time have a little bit more fun and get a little competitive spirit going. I think people would enjoy staying in shape while also meeting up with people with similar hobbies to have a good time.
3. I am offering it to customers who are interested in staying fit and active. An ideal customer could be a boy or a girl, anywhere from their early 20's to possibly their early 40's if they are in good enough shape to still be active. I think the typical customer would be someone who played sports in high school and is looking for a way to get that similar feeling and be active again. The typical customer would also be someone who is pretty social and willing to meet up with people they don't know to play sports.
4. Customers would care because people are always looking for a way to meet new people and stay healthy, and this app offers a way to do both of those at the same time. You could use the app to meet new friends or meet new people in a new town that have similar interests. It could both be a recreational and a competitive app depending on who is using it. I think it could be hard to get customers to pay for an app like this at first but there are other way to monetize this kind of product.
5. What sets this app apart from everything else is it is all about just meeting up and having a good time. If you and your friends don't have enough people to play a full game of basketball, an app that can fix that for you is the perfect solution. Society is moving towards being more active and this app promotes that idea and is working with that trend.
I think these elements all fit fairly well together. I think it makes sense that social people who want to stay active would be willing to use an app to get more people together and have a better time. I think the hardest obstacle to over come would be getting enough people on the app where you can actually find other people and it just isn't a waste of time.
I didn't receive any feedback on my last Idea Napkin so I just tried to think about my business idea more and take other feedback I have received about it and incorporate that into my points. I also took feedback I received from my job and incorporated that into my strengths. I think I need to work on my idea of how to monetize this product and grow its initial user base.
Jared,
ReplyDeleteI liked the info and details you provided on your idea napkin about your app. It gave me a clear understanding of what exactly it is. I think it's a really cool idea! I think people would participate. I mean afterall you're not meeting someone alone in a dark alley. It would be fun and a good way to make new friends! I know a lot of people that are often looking for new workout buddies, fishing buddies, etc. (along the same line). I guess my only question is how would you make sure you were meeting up with people around you're same age/get a realistic mix? So if I want to play volleyball, how do I make sure I don't show up and it's a bunch of twelve year olds? ha.

Hey Jared, I think you did a great job on your second idea napkin. I still like your idea of an app to meet with people to organize a sport. I think you did a great job on your original and I like that you stuck with your idea. I know that I personally find it hard to organize a group to play baseball, and this app would help a lot.
ReplyDeleteJared,
ReplyDeleteI like what you did with your second idea napkin. I love playing pick up sports and it's always difficult to find people if your friends aren't available to play. I know a lot of people show up at southwest randomly to play basketball, but for other sports this app would help tremendously to get some sort of organized games going. I think the app could work particularly well on college campuses. Great job!
